I’m a third generation, degreed agriculturalist from North Florida. In 1997 – before the USDA even had a certified organic program – my first farm located near Asheville, NC was certified organic. Since that time, I’ve farmed all sorts of vegetable crops, annuals, perennials, woody ornamentals, etc. With more than 20 years of experience, I’ve loved learning how to farm.

My farming philosophy is focused more on the soil than the plants. As long as the soil is happy, the cannabis will thrive. I feed the microbes in the soil, which feed on the minerals in the soil, which in turn feed the plants. I’ve tested crop methods and continue breaking through to best hemp practices. It’s a real pleasure to see these plants thrive!

Our farm is located at 8,120’ in the foothills, just Southwest of Denver, Colorado. No pesticides are ever used. With no pest pressure at this altitude there is much less residual pesticide and other contaminants in the surrounding environment. As for weeds, we mow between the plants initially, but then they overgrow any competing weeds. It’s more expensive than spraying, but it’s best to keep chemicals away from our plants.

In Colorado, water is a scarce resource, so in order to be good stewards of the Earth, we use drip irrigation. With this technology, we can see water usage drop by up to 80%! Everything we do on the farm is done to ensure we are doing our very best to be good stewards of the Earth.
